The Union SD 5 board approved the district's integrated application for student-investment funding after a staff presentation outlining program goals, reporting requirements and budget implications.
S1 explained the integrated plan links prior efforts (Measure 98 and related high school success initiatives) into a single application. S5 told the board "there's probably close to $600,000 tied to this plan," and stressed the proposition carries accountability: targets, quarterly reports and progress markers that must be met for continued funding. S5 also warned of longer-term funding pressures, saying some state funding streams tied to lottery and other revenue have trended downward since the program began.
Board members discussed how the plan funds multiple priorities: reducing elementary class size, adding interventionists for reading and math, supporting a student-success coach, and investing in CTE and bond-funded facilities at the secondary level. After questions about federal/title funds and contingency planning, a motion to approve the integrated plan for 2527 was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The approval means the district will document the plan in the minutes and proceed to finalize attached budgets and quarterly reporting as required by the Student Investment Account and associated grant rules.
