"In FFA and in education, we use a model called the research model, and it has three components: classroom learning, supervised agricultural experience, and empathy and leadership," the student presenter said, outlining how classroom instruction and hands-on SAE projects combine with leadership work to prepare students. The presenters noted their chapter received a national chapter award and that alumni fundraising underwrites scholarships and travel to state and national conventions.
Board members asked about leadership conferences, proficiencies and fundraising; the students said a chapter banquet and alumni auction are major fundraisers that enable participation in national events. The presentation included specific program outcomes: placement in ritual competitions, district and state judging participation, proficiency awards for vegetable production and leadership roles that give officers opportunities to teach and advocate in classrooms and at conferences.
The board thanked the FFA visitors and invited them back for future meetings. The appearance aimed to showcase career and technical education pathways available to students and to demonstrate local community support for CTE programs.
