Police report: traffic enforcement heavy during community jamboree, officers say

The Vernonia police representative reported to the council that law-enforcement presence at the recent Spencer Park jamboree included local officers and a mobile response team.
"They did 93 traffic stops, 31 of those were for speed," the officer reported, noting additional citations for seat-belt and registration violations and a small number of arrests and suspended‑license citations. The department said it issued 25 traffic citations and about 105 warnings over the event interval and conducted premise checks at festival locations.
Councilors thanked staff and officers for the event coverage; the police representative said the presence allowed officers to do foot patrols and interact with residents. The department noted it would participate in upcoming community events including a national night-out event at the school.
