Fiscal Court approves sprinkler, roof and electrical work for Fred Cain building

Facility Supervisor Mark Gordon reported progress and next steps for the Fred Cain building during the Jan. 30 meeting. The court approved a $205,200.00 quote from Central Kentucky Sprinkler for installing a new sprinkler system; Gordon said additional lines and a water-main position change are required and that the system will include monitoring that contacts emergency services if water activation is detected.
On roofing, the court heard that the state approved a new roof and that both a TPO and a PVC option were bid at the same price. After discussion on material quality and Gordon’s recommendation, the court approved installing PVC rather than TPO in a vote that passed 4–1 (Magistrate Tom Ellis dissented). Magistrate Jason Cullen moved and Magistrate Steve Sleeper seconded approval of a $101,739.00 Wiley Electric quote for required electrical work in the recycling offices; the motion passed unanimously.
