Commissioners award $4,594/month cleaning contract to Citywide Facility Solutions

The McPherson County Commission voted unanimously June 22 to award a one‑year cleaning contract for the county building to Citywide Facility Solutions with a monthly cap of $4,594 and automatic month‑to‑month renewal thereafter.

County maintenance supervisor Joshua (S7) told the board he conducted walkthroughs with three vendors that bid on identical schedules and specifications; he said references called for Citywide reported no issues and the company could begin service on July 1. “Tentative date would be the July 1,” Joshua said. A committee member (S2) moved to approve the agreement “for the cleaning of the county building, total not to exceed a monthly expense of $4,594,” and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Commissioners discussed price differences and the tradeoff between awarding work locally and keeping costs down; one commissioner said he preferred to stay local despite higher cost but agreed to the award after staff recommended monitoring Citywide’s early performance. Staff said Citywide will receive two badge cards and two physical keys limited to required cleaning areas, with a 30‑day cure notice for missed services and a 30‑day cancellation clause.

Board members asked staff to consider whether other county facilities could be bundled into a larger package later if local labor availability allowed. Joshua told the board an initial deeper clean might be necessary because several departments are still moving into the building.
