County administrator Jonathan Booth presented a proposed three-year contract with Alliance Internet to upgrade the county's internet service from 400 megabits per second to 1 gigabit. Booth said the county currently pays more than $1,900 per month for service and that the new contract was negotiated as an upgrade with a quoted cost of $14.77 a month in the presentation; Booth said the change would save roughly $6,000 per year over current costs as the county budgets for future internet costs.
Commissioners moved to accept the contract and authorize the chairman to sign; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff will finalize the contract and implement the service upgrade under the three-year term.
