The emergency manager updated commissioners on grant activity and equipment needs. He said the EMPG reimbursement package for $28,631 had been submitted and should be received shortly. He also said he would submit an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) application that requests $577,600 with a 5% local match (about $28,880) to purchase 34 SCBA packs and one brush truck.
He described an applied Call Share grant through the Kansas Forest Service for dual-certified wildland and technical-rescue gear (10 sets costing $10,000 with a $5,000 match), and said skid units funded via a scheduled-unit grant would be ready and that he planned to draw down $84,000 from the federal portal. He also said a $150,000 charitable donation application to the local refinery remained promising to help Deering station improvements. He described hydrotesting of SCBA bottles (turnaround about two weeks) and coordination of volunteer work following the Sycamore tornado.
