The Board approved a request from Rose Hill Fire District #3 to purchase a Sutphen fire engine and equipment for $1,342,542.10 and to finance the remaining principal of $1,170,372.02.
County Administrator Will Johnson and Fire District Chief Kevin Webster told the Board the purchase advances the district’s replacement schedule to avoid higher future costs and a three‑year build delay. The district plans a $172,170.08 down payment from reserves and intends to finance the remainder through HGAC Buy unless county finance finds better rates. Chief Webster stated, "the district should receive the fire engine by the end of this year." The Board approved the purchase and financing 4‑0.
The district explained the opportunity avoided additional emissions‑related costs that would apply to a 2027 model and allowed the department to take advantage of current production availability.
