Butler County approves $118,860 payment for NG911 call‑handling services

The Butler County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 20 to approve the county’s 2026 annual payment of $118,860 to the Kansas 9‑1‑1 Coordinating Council to cover statewide NG911 call‑handling equipment and software.
Emergency Communications Director Jeremy Seglem told the Board Butler County migrated onto the statewide ESI Net in 2017 and ‘‘Text‑to‑911 capability was achieved shortly after migrating to ESI net.’’ He also said geospatial routing is now enabled, improving call routing and location accuracy through a statewide mapping program. The county’s annual fee covers all hardware and software for call handling.
Commissioner Darren Jackson moved to approve the payment and Commissioner Jeff Masterson seconded. The motion carried 3‑1; Commissioner Dan Woydziak voted no. Vice Commission Chair Kelly Herzet and the Board did not request additional study before payment.
