Commission to act temporarily as board for Verdigris River Drainage District No. 1 to resolve maintenance and levy issues

Because there is no presiding board to authorize release of funds owed for maintenance, staff proposed a temporary resolution enabling the county commission to act in the district’s stead for administrative purposes. "You will have the same power and authority as the board, as if you were the board of Drainage District number 1," staff said when outlining the resolution's effect.
Commissioners discussed temporary authority, the absence of a timeline in the resolution and the process for returning authority once a new district board is appointed. The resolution was adopted to enable the county to release maintenance funds owed to Coffeyville and to set the district mill as needed; staff said the authority would revert once a district board is established.
