The Claymont City Board of Education formalized its 2026 leadership at an organizational meeting Monday evening. Treasurer Kim Beckley administered the Board Member Oath of Office to newly elected members Lois Grandison, Cyndy Host and Michelle Wolf, and the board then elected officers for the year.
Mrs. Host moved and Ms. Campbell seconded to elect Solomon Peters as Board President for 2026; the roll call vote recorded Mrs. Host, Ms. Campbell and Mrs. Grandison voting yes, Mr. Peters abstaining and Mrs. Wolf voting yes. Following the vote, Treasurer Kim Beckley "administered the Oath of Office for President of the Claymont City Board of Education to Mr. Solomon Peters." Later, Mrs. Grandison moved and Mrs. Wolf seconded the motion to elect Martha Campbell as Vice-President; the roll call vote was unanimous and Ms. Campbell took the oath of office that evening.
The newly sworn board members and elected officers will serve during the district's 2026 calendar of meetings and committee work. The organizational meeting also included routine approvals and administrative delegations (see related articles on committee appointments and administrative authorizations).
