How municipalities sign up for MassDEP battery-collection supplies and available training

Caitlin King of MassDEP walked through the online agreement and asked that recycling coordinators be the ones to complete the form. The form asks whether a municipality wants the mixed-battery collection kit, the DDR collection kit, and the lithium-ion fire blanket, and includes an explicit commitment that materials be kept in an accessible, safe, and well-ventilated location.
King emphasized operational details: municipalities may request at most one of each item and should provide a recycling coordinator's name, email, and mailing address. She said MassDEP staff will send reminders to municipalities that have not submitted the form and will offer follow-up training—including an in-person demonstration of the fire blanket—so that staff unfamiliar with the equipment can be trained before deployment.
