Vendor NLR describes mixed-battery bucket for municipal drop-off centers

Suzanne Nardi of NLR described the mixed dry-cell battery bucket that municipalities can deploy at drop-off centers. "Our 5 gallon buckets are the easy button for your drop off centers," she said, and Nardi explained that the bucket includes a liner, tape, and instructions and that it can accept alkaline, NiCad, nickel-metal hydride, lithium-ion, zinc-carbon, mercuric oxide, and silver oxide batteries.
Nardi emphasized safe storage and shipping procedures: remove the lid, insert the liner, insulate battery terminals with nonconductive tape (electrical or clear packing tape), avoid duct tape, and keep batteries away from heat and flammable materials. She said the bucket will arrive with a mailing label and instructions to schedule a pickup that routes material to certified recycling facilities.
