Board Elects Commissioner Freehling as Vice-Chair; Approves 2026 Meeting Calendar

At the Jan. 8 organizational meeting, Commissioner Jim Curran moved and Commissioner David Vollrath seconded a motion to close nominations and elect Commissioner Teri Sue Freehling as vice-chair; the motion passed unanimously. The board recorded the election without objection.
The board also reviewed and agreed to a tentative calendar for 2026 commissioners’ meetings. Commissioners discussed holding at least five night meetings beginning at 6:00 p.m.; the first of those night meetings will be at the Berrien County Administration Building and the locations for the remaining evening meetings will be determined later. Chairperson Elliott confirmed that parent committee assignments will remain unchanged for Administration, Finance, and Personnel & Human Services.
