Sheriff Ryan Swope updated the Crawford County Board of Commissioners on recent community events and public‑safety operations on June 25. He said the Kirk A. Wakefield Memorial golf outing had the largest turnout to date and that recent charity events have raised significant amounts for local recreation projects: "in the last two years the event raised over $10,000.00" and "this year the event raised over $6,000.00 for the Crawford AuSable Soccer Association's expansion of their fields." He also reported a change to the AuSable River Canoe Marathon parade lineup and routing and reminded the board about the Fourth of July parade schedule.
Later in extended public comment, Swope described a service change by the local community mental‑health provider, saying NLCMH "will no longer be visiting the jail on a weekly basis like they have in the past" and that the provider will come only if an inmate is actively threatening self‑harm. Swope said that change had not been communicated to his department and called it "very concerning." There was no response recorded from NLCMH during the meeting. The board did not vote on or direct staff to take immediate action on the change during this session.
