The Berrien County Sewage Appeals Board took three formal actions on Jan. 7, 2026: the board approved the meeting agenda (motion by Ray Matejczyk, second by Alex Ott), approved the Dec. 3, 2025 meeting minutes (motion by Alex Ott, second by Ray Matejczyk), and approved a conditional Allegan mound septic system for the Davis property at 2887 Coloma Rd. (motion by Chair Thaddeus Hackworth, second by Ray Matejczyk).
The conditional approval for the Davis property requires a successful pre-construction meeting, passing all customary Berrien County Health Department inspections, construction during favorable/dry soil conditions, and protection of the absorption field and reserve area from compaction. All required isolation distances and setback requirements must be met before final permit issuance.
