Commission approves corrections and maintenance personnel changes, introduces new correctional officer

County corrections staff reported current detention numbers—about 51 males, 8 females, 55 held for district court and 4 held for business records—and introduced a newly hired correctional officer, Stephanie Helvey of Herington. The commission approved a personnel change notice (PCN) for Mark Barnett effective May 10 and later approved PCNs for Darren (DJ) Moore and Ty Dilbeck, including step increases and promotions as presented by public works. The board also approved recruiting a temporary part‑time maintenance worker for the summer (6 months or 1,000 hours cap) to handle mowing workload.
Commissioners recorded routine vouchers, witness checks and payroll approvals by voice vote. No dissent was recorded for the personnel actions taken during the meeting.
