McPherson County says new courthouse building is near completion; commissioners approve fixtures and an $8,000 IT switch

The commission approved two vendor documents for the building: a storage/work table for the register's office priced at $10,350 and five concrete planters totaling $8,200, with funds drawn from the capital improvement reserve. Commissioners also approved a staff request to purchase an additional 48‑volt network switch to support IoT signage and devices in the new building. Jeff Butler, the county IT coordinator, said the quote (including a five‑year maintenance and support warranty) would not exceed $8,000 and the board approved the expenditure.
Butler described the network as primarily wireless with wired redundancy in data closets; he said maintenance support for the new switch was included in the $8,000 figure. County staff said furniture installation and final cleaning are ongoing and that card readers, fire systems and some signage are already in place.
