Alison Teslia, director of the Office of Management and Budget, presented the county’s fiscal-year 2026 recommended budget and the taxable-value estimates the board must use to set TRIM notices. Teslia said certified taxable values rose about 11.64% countywide—roughly a $4.68 billion increase—and the recommended total FY26 budget is $911.2 million with an operating budget of $803.8 million.
The board voted to establish the maximum millage rates that will appear on property-tax TRIM (Truth in Millage) notices. Chair and several commissioners emphasized they will work to lower the tentative rates between now and final adoption in September. Residents who spoke during public comment urged the board to rigorously scrutinize constitutional-officer requests and limit budget growth. Teslia said staff will present more detailed hearings and workshops before final adoption.
