Parks staff presented bids for improvements to the middle parking lot at Townsend Beaman County Park and recommended awarding the contract to Thompson Asphalt Services, the low bidder at $46,000. The board approved the contract by voice vote after a motion from Pawelowski and support from Stell.
"We got some pretty good results actually 6 different bids and we're recommending the the low bid of, $46,000 from Thompson Asphalt Services," the parks representative said, noting the low bidder is based in Coldwater and that other bids came from the Lansing area. Board members asked whether any bidders were in-county; staff indicated they were unsure and believed most were from outside the county. The board recorded the award as unanimous.
Why it matters: The contract funds immediate capital repairs to the middle lot—adjacent to the upcoming dog park—and reflects a competitive bidding process. The contract award authorizes staff to proceed with the selected contractor.
