A Department on Aging representative identified as Daniel summarized recent community fundraising and volunteer support for Meals on Wheels. Daniel reported the Supesan fundraiser raised more than $35,000 and that Meijer’s Airport Road store donated an additional $2,000 to the program. "Over $35,000 was raised," he said while describing auction logistics (about 97 items with an average per item near $55.45).
Daniel said the Friends of Jackson Seniors board will meet in June to decide how to allocate the funds; historically the funds have been used to support vehicle purchases for Meals on Wheels. He also described upcoming Lunch-and-Learn programming and volunteer-driven contributions such as donated placemats and afghans. The committee moved to receive the department’s report by voice vote.
