Crawford County Sheriff Ryan Swope presented the sheriff’s office 2025 annual report to the Board of Commissioners on March 26, 2026. He said deputies handled 8,348 calls countywide in 2025, including 3,500 in Grayling Township, 1,718 in the City of Grayling, and 966 in Beaver Creek. The office issued 1,071 citations for 1,356 offenses during the year.
Swope provided operational statistics for specialty patrols (marine: 476 hours; ORV: 778.5 hours; snowmobile: 384 hours), and said the annual inmate total was 747 with a daily average of 30.42. He also outlined pistol-registration work: 290 licenses issued, 450 pistols entered from licenses or sales records, 118 pistols entered with CPL, and two entered with MCOLES. On staffing he reported road patrols are fully staffed and the jail has one part-time corrections-officer position open; he told the board that "overall everything is well in the department."
