EMS agency reports: RFP under state review; protocols consolidation and 30-day public comment announced

Merced County EMS staff told the Emergency Medical Care Committee that the regional RFP is still under state review, adult and pediatric protocols are being combined to simplify care, and the updated policies are open for a 30-day public comment period; ground-ambulance response compliance data for Oct. 1–Dec. 31, 2024 were also presented.
Tim Williams, EMSA Manager, told the Emergency Medical Care Committee on Feb. 13 that the regional RFP continues to be reviewed by the State. Williams also said the EMS Agency is working to simplify care by combining adult and pediatric protocols and that the CQI response to the new workflow has been positive.
Michael Garrett presented ground ambulance response-time compliance figures for the period Oct. 1–Dec. 31, 2024 (FY2024/25 Q2). Committee members discussed the current contract (APOT) and the pending RFP; Garrett noted that public comment on updated policies is open for a 30-day review period.
