Merced County oral health program outlines priorities, cites Proposition 56 funding

Stephany Roldan, Health Education Specialist with the Merced County Department of Public Health, opened the oral health advisory committee’s Jan. 14 meeting and described the Local Oral Health Program’s funding and priorities. Roldan said LOHP is funded by the California Department of Public Health through Proposition 56 and outlined three main objectives: to improve access to and utilization of dental services, to enhance oral health education and awareness, and to integrate dental care across county programs.
The overview was presented to nine attendees in the MCDPH auditorium and framed as background for committee members, especially newer participants. The program’s focus on integrating dental care is intended to coordinate countywide efforts and align LOHP activities with the California Oral Health Plan. The committee recorded routine meeting logistics (11:06 a.m. start; 12:30 p.m. adjourn) and assigned follow-ups including outreach planning and partner engagement. The committee will reconvene Apr. 8, 2025.
