Agency chair urges care with public comments; training being rescheduled

Chair Vicki Russell reminded Agency members to be mindful when sharing opinions in person and through public media about matters currently or soon to be before the City and the Agency. She said the reminder is intended to uphold best practices for public meetings and avoid perceptions of bias ahead of deliberations.
Russell also noted a public meeting training offered by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC) scheduled for April 30 at City Hall conflicts with the annual SLED luncheon. City Recorder Amanda Metcalf identified the scheduling conflict and is working on rescheduling the training so that full member participation is achievable. Council President VanDamme also introduced her background as a current and former councilmember and planning commissioner during board comments.
