County engineer presents $3.12 million rebuild report; commission approves annual report

Dan Dahlke, Saint Clair County's engineer, presented the county's Rebuild Alabama annual report and asked the commission to approve it pending a financial review.
"Total cost we spent was, about $3,124,899 and $99.97 cents," Dahlke said, detailing roughly 36.6 miles of rebuilt roadway covered by the report. He told the commission some projects from the prior year did not finish due to contractor delays and noted that bid openings for 2026 work would occur later in the week.
Commissioners approved the report subject to a CFO review and asked staff to reconcile the numbers before finalizing all paperwork. Dahlke also described localized storm damage and emergency repairs on Dry Creek and Camp Creek roads and outlined short-term steps to restore drainage and reopen lanes where possible.
