Trustee Loera says amendment language changed after public discussion; signals Brown Act challenge

"If the actual language was correct on May 11, how did all three board members come to the conclusion that they were all going to agree on this amendment when it was never brought forth?" she asked. Loera said she had sent a preliminary notice to the district and would file a formal cure and correct demand if the district could not show the public the exact language and deliberation she said had been on the record. She framed the issue as one of public transparency, saying the Brown Act requires the public be able to hear the exact proposal under consideration.
Loera also cautioned about district spending and said the district lacked funds for the measure, and she described school‑closure and right‑sizing decisions she supported as necessary for students' best interests. She urged the board to preserve transparent public deliberation and warned that she will continue with legal remedies to ensure proper notice and process.
