The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted to designate the Nebraska State Print Shop to print and mail the county's joint public-hearing postcards for September 2026. Staff told the board the state has passed legislation that will shift the mailing responsibility to the state beginning next year, but staff said they are still clarifying whether the state will also pay printing and postage costs or whether costs may be billed back to the county.
During discussion, a staff member said the print shop has handled the postcards "the last 4 or 5 years" and that the arrangement is "cheaper, easier." Commissioners asked follow-up questions about timing; staff reiterated the postcards must be mailed between July 1 and 15 under current practice and will confirm cost responsibilities for 2027.
