The Vernonia City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the State Building Codes Division to join the state's ePermit system, a step staff said is required and will make permit records searchable online.
"At some point we'll be able to look up all permits on a property forever once this starts," staff told the council and said the city expects a phased roll‑out targeting December–January for initial operations.
Councilors moved, seconded and adopted Resolution 2024-08 by roll call. The IGA will allow the city to use the state-hosted e-permit system rather than build and support its own platform; staff said the change should reduce records retention friction and improve public transparency for permit histories.
