Public Works Superintendent Brent Morton presented a reimbursement agreement to relocate existing gas infrastructure that conflicts with the Rock Creek Channel Improvements project (Woodson to Maple). Morton said the work includes installing approximately 240 feet of 2-inch polyethylene distribution main, six new service lines, retirement of about 480 feet of older 2-inch polyethylene main and retirement of 70 feet of 4‑inch bare steel main. The estimated reimbursement amount to Kansas Gas Service is $109,835.90.
Morton told the council these relocations are part of a multi-year effort to move utilities from rear easements into the right of way and to reduce future conflicts with infrastructure work. The council approved the reimbursement agreement by motion and roll-call vote.
