County moves to advertise RFP for electronic monitoring and extend current contract to avoid service gap

The county's adult probation and parole office requested permission to advertise a request for proposals for electronic monitoring services and sought an interim contract extension to prevent interruption of supervision services.
"I am here today to ask for approval to advertise for our electronic monitoring services that are utilized by the adult probation and parole office after an individual has been sentenced," Danielle Hibbert told council, noting the existing contract expires June 30 and that approximately 102 people currently are under electronic monitoring supervision. Later in the agenda she said the county would amend and extend the agreement with Judicial Management Services through Dec. 31, 2026 while the RFP is completed.
Council placed the advertising request and the contract extension on the consent agenda; members asked only procedural questions and staff confirmed they are coordinating with the solicitor's office on the procurement timeline. Staff emphasized the extension is intended to avoid service interruptions that could affect supervised individuals' ability to remain in the community.
