County authorizes SS4A participation and seeks IIJA TAP funds for sidewalks, park trail

Rogers County approved participation in the FHWA FY23 Safer Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program and authorized applications to ODOT for Transportation Alternatives Program funds for a school sidewalk and a park walking trail.
The Rogers County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 5, 2026 authorized the county to participate in the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Highway Administration FY23 Safer Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program and to administer related grant documents.
Commissioners also approved resolutions authorizing submission of Transportation Alternatives Program (IIJA) applications to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the Justus Tiawah School District Sidewalk Project (Resolution 2026-117) and the Verdigris Riverside Park Walking Trail project (Resolution 2026-119). All motions were seconded and carried on unanimous roll-call votes.
The SS4A approval authorizes county staff to pursue federal funding to improve street safety; the TAP resolutions enable application for IIJA funds for pedestrian infrastructure projects in Rogers County.
