The Montgomery Crime Control and Prevention District voted July 27 to forward its proposed FY2027 budget to the city council workshop after staff explained a $427,009.44 transfer to debt service for the municipal complex.
Staff told the board the $427,009.44 line represents the CCPD portion of potential debt service tied to a municipal complex buildout. “There’s a large amount, $427,009.44, and that’s in preparation for potential debt service that would need to be in place for the build out of the municipal complex,” the staff member said. Board members asked how shared building costs would be allocated and staff said CCPD would cover only the portion attributable to CCPD functions.
The proposed budget will go to the city council workshop on August 10, be posted on or after the August 11 meeting, remain available for 30 days, and may be acted on in mid-September, staff said. One board member noted the $427,009.44 figure would amount to roughly $36,000 per month and could cover the first year of payment under the current plan.
The board approved a motion to forward the proposed FY2027 budget to council; the Chair called the vote and the motion carried.
