Treasurer announces new cash-rounding statute, asks residents to bring pennies; introduces summer intern

Treasurer Gill told the Board there is a new statute allowing rounding for cash payments, noting the change will not take effect until November 1. "There's a new statute that came into the law...that allows us to do rounding, for cash payments and that we are running out of pennies," he said, adding that the county has rolls available for residents who want to exchange pennies for cash.
Gill also introduced the treasurer's summer intern, Roman Miller, telling commissioners the intern graduated from Jenks High School and is attending NYU, where he studies philosophy and politics. No action was required from the Board on either announcement.
