Quartermaster Bert Little told the commission the post has been active locally since 1982 and thanked the city for the opportunity to have a permanent home.
City staff noted the sale was approved by voters in last November’s election by double majority turnout and vote. Following standard public‑hearing procedures and no public opposition, Commissioner Poe moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Mitchell seconded; the motion carried. The deed includes a reversionary clause obligating the property to revert to the city if the VFW no longer operates at the site.
The resolution transfers responsibility for maintenance to the VFW while preserving a mechanism for the city to regain the building if the post ceases operations. The commission welcomed the post to the community and closed the hearing.
