Pratt County Health Department asks county to serve as parent agency for Family Planning grant

Darcie Van Der Vyver of the Pratt County Health Department requested the county serve as the parent agency for the coalition’s Family Planning grant. She explained Kiowa County currently serves as the parent agency for both WIC and Family Planning grants and that Pratt County, as the largest county with the highest enrollment in the coalition, could reduce risk if staffing changes occur in Kiowa County by assuming parental responsibility for the Family Planning grant.
Van Der Vyver said the county would establish a new fund to receive and distribute grant monies to coalition members and that the approach had been cleared with the county accountant and auditor. Commissioners indicated a contract outlining Darcie Van Der Vyver’s administration of the program would be prepared and presented for future approval. No final vote was taken at the meeting.
