Sheriff Ryan Swope told the board the department received approval for the 2026 Marine Grant from the State of Michigan and that a new dock and boat hoist were installed at Camp Grayling's South Bay to allow for a second patrol boat. Swope said John Pratt has been hired as a part-time Marine Patrol Officer and the department has begun its seasonal livery inspections.
Swope also reported that Marine Administrator David Vogel attended a Lake Margrethe Property Owners Association meeting with positive feedback. The Corrections Department is reported as "doing well," and the Road Officers experienced a slow Memorial Day weekend. Swope said the department is exploring new jail management and records management systems.
