The Vernonia City Council voted to adopt Resolution 2024-10 on Nov. 18, 2024, updating the city’s building permit and inspection fee schedule. Staff described the package as aligned with state fees and intended to ensure the city recovers building-official time. "These have been, gone through an exhaustive process for the states to get approval for these," Staff member (Speaker 2) told the council.
Council discussion noted that the current fees had not increased since 2012 and that staff worked to find middle ground. Speaker 4 moved to adopt the resolution and the motion was seconded by Councilor Wagner. Roll-call-style responses in the record include Mayor Hobart, Councilor Wagner, Councilor Ash and Councilor Norman voting "Aye," and the chair declared the motion carried.
The resolution covers multiple line items (document pages 14–25 in the packet) and staff said only a few fees increased; some fees were added for services that previously did not have chargeable line items.
No amendments were recorded during the Nov. 18 meeting; the adoption was completed by voice/roll-call and recorded as carried. The council did not schedule further action on the resolution at that meeting.
