The board approved a revised emergency-manager resolution after county staff said the state requested elected officials be listed by name rather than by title in the document.
Jonathan explained that the earlier draft had included a position title for the emergency manager, but the state asked the county to remove that wording and leave only the individual’s name. "They just wanted the name, so I went in and had to pull the position out and just leave the name of Michael Smith in there," Jonathan said. The change stemmed from the state’s view that elected officials are already easily identifiable by name, while appointed or non-elected roles are not.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the revised resolution. Staff will finalize the document and circulate the signed copy.
