Consultant says Veneta streets rank top in state; recommends multi‑year maintenance plan

Consultant Joel Conner said the city has about 47 miles of streets and that a targeted six‑year program costing approximately $1.8 million (about $304,000 per year) would preserve most of the network in good condition and remove the existing backlog of deferred maintenance. "Your current PCI is 85. No one in the state even comes close to 85," he said. The consultant warned that doing nothing would push the city into significantly higher structural overlay costs and estimated deferred liabilities could grow into the millions within several years.
Public works and the consultant discussed how projects can be grouped to achieve contractor mobilization savings. The council thanked the presenter and asked staff to use the report to inform upcoming budget priorities.
