Director Crystal Natan told the advisory committee the agency currently has 24 open positions and typically posts for 85 roles; she said the agency "lose[s] about a third of our caseworkers each year" but that turnover has improved since 2021–2023 and that 4–5 new staff joined since July 1.
Intake Director Kara Davis reported that GPS and CPS units "are in a much better position with staffing" and that the goal is to retain new caseworkers so they can begin receiving cases in September. Family Support Director Rebecca McMinn said her unit is still struggling, with many accepted cases more complex and including families experiencing homelessness; board members discussed training and supervisory support for newer staff.
