John described senior services programming and funding sources in the department’s update, including Meals on Wheels, congregate dining, transportation and case management for homebound and mobile seniors.
He said the senior center has enrolled in Meals on Wheels America this fiscal year at a $250 annual subscription rate to obtain more grant opportunities and informational resources. “We're considered a rural district. That's a $250 annual fee,” John said, adding staff hope the membership will open access to additional grants for nutrition and transportation programs.
John said the department also partners with Mount Hood Hospice and other organizations to expand capacity and reach populations that current staffing levels may not be able to serve directly.
