Mining Park renovation moves forward with land-use filing and multi-source funding

Tianna, a parks staff member, told the board that Mining Park renovation work has advanced to a formal land-use application and is scheduled to go out to bid late this year or early next, with construction expected to begin in July 2026.
She described community engagement and technical review — including input from an accessibility specialist and an arborist — and provided a funding breakdown for the project: “The funding for this project consists of $1,000,000 in parks SDCs, $791,146 in, a combination of grants from bridal Oregon and Oregon Parks Recreation District, and another $800,000 from the Sandy Urban Renewal,” Tianna said. Staff said they hope to go out to bid late this year or early next year and start construction in July 2026.
Tianna said some restoration work on the Tickle Creek Trail has proceeded through an agreement with the Clackamas River Basin Council to remove invasive species and add native plantings, and that much of that work has already taken place with ongoing volunteer opportunities.
