Council approves extension to Purple Pipe grant timeline; no new DOC funds requested
Summary
The council approved Amendment B to the Department of Commerce Purple Pipe Project agreement to extend the grant timeline through October 2026; staff said the original grant was $11,000,000 and they seek flexibility with a roughly $100,000 bucket while drawing from Ecology funds.

Todd described Amendment B to the Department of Commerce (DOC) agreement for the Purple Pipe Project as an extension of the grant timeline with no additional DOC funds requested. “That was original 11,000,000 that we had. I have a bucket amount of about a 100,000, and I'd like to keep it,” Todd said, and added DOC is willing to extend the agreement through October 2026.
Council discussed that some items may require Ecology funding and that the amendment is intended to provide flexibility to spend remaining funds as project work continues beyond June 30; one council member abstained from the vote because of a consultant-team affiliation. The motion to approve Amendment B passed.
