Council Member Juarez asked OIR for clearer reporting on tribal engagement and requested that the office include staff attendance details in future briefings so council and the public know how Seattle was represented at national tribal events. "I haven't seen anyone from OIR as of yet going out to Washington DC," Juarez said, noting the importance of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) meeting for tribal policy issues.
Director Hashemi told Juarez that OIR’s travel budget has been limited this year and that the team has visited Washington, D.C. twice; she said OIR is registered for NCAI events and will add attendance and representation notes in future presentations, including whether staff like Francesca attended and which sessions they covered.
