Library board says construction manager RJS was selected to lead renovation planning

The board heard that RJS Construction was chosen from three proposals to serve as construction manager; RJS will prepare bid packages for the public construction phase and the municipality completed the contract award at a recent municipal meeting.
Director Robin told the board the renovation project is moving forward and that the library selected a construction manager after soliciting proposals.
"We interviewed two of those and selected Rjs construction," Robin said, noting the municipality awarded the contract at a public meeting and that RJS’s first task is to produce a bid package so construction firms can bid on the work. Robin said the library will then proceed with the public-bid process for contractors and expects construction to begin in the fall if schedules hold.
Board members asked whether the selected construction manager could submit a bid on the construction work itself; Robin said she believed that was permitted but that she was not fully versed on all procurement nuances and that the firm selected is smaller and may or may not enter the construction-phase bidding.
