Seattle council briefed on intergovernmental priorities, 2027 agenda planning

Director Nina Hashemi and Deputy Director Sam Reid presented an overview of the Office of Intergovernmental Relations (OIR) to the Seattle City Council on July 27, 2026, describing the office’s role in “represent[ing] and advanc[ing] Seattle’s interests across local, regional, tribal, state, federal, and international governments.” The briefing outlined OIR’s six lines of business, a recent staffing completion (fully staffed as of April 2026), and a commitment to collect department and council priorities ahead of the 2027 state legislative session.
Hashemi told the council OIR will meet with departments, the mayor’s office and council members to finalize a draft state legislative agenda for council review and approval. She said early outreach to legislators and stakeholders is intended to build momentum for Seattle priorities in Olympia and that OIR will provide required updates during session. Hashemi closed by offering follow-up meetings with council offices to refine what information members want in future briefings.
