Highway staff outlined inspections that identified numerous culvert and drainage needs across town, including a study for the Allen Bent culvert and localized fixes on Bradstreet Hill and Culver village. Staff said they have over 100 inspection items to address and will pursue targeted repairs.
The board discussed applying to the Better Backroads program and confirmed Maria will prepare the application; staff warned the transportation-alternatives program is administratively heavy (NEPA and engineering). Paul reported he filed for a FEMA extension tied to a Fairbrook project and said construction must be completed and paperwork submitted by Sept. 30 to close out that grant portion.
Members discussed options to stockpile sand and adjust next year’s budget lines to account for heavier-than-expected material usage; no formal votes were taken on capital reallocation at the meeting.
