A staff member informed the Willamina SD 30J board that new public meeting requirements took effect on Jan. 1, 2025. "The main thing was that we do have to have video recordings of our meetings, and they have to be posted with it on our website within 7 days after the meeting," the staff member said, and the transcript records that audio remains sufficient in some cases but the new law also requires public officials to obtain meeting-law training while in office.
The staff member added that notice timelines changed for certain agenda items, moving from 24-hour to 48-hour advance notice in some instances, and cautioned the board that several policies under review would need to be held pending legal guidance. The board acknowledged the change and planned to address training needs after the next election cycle.
