Commissioners push back at newspaper coverage of prison project after listening session

Following a public listening session on the county’s new prison project, Commissioners Ray D’Agostino and Joshua G. Parsons criticized reporting in a same‑day LNP article that they said included inaccuracies about votes and design changes.

Commissioner D’Agostino said the article was "concerning due to false information," noting that all votes related to the prison project have been unanimous and that the article incorrectly claimed minimal changes between design phases. He called accurate public information important so residents understand project facts. Commissioner Parsons said the spread of false information within the community is "intentional and malicious" and urged LNP leadership to restore journalistic ethics, naming "Mr. Greene" as the head of LNP.

Commissioner Alice Yoder praised the listening session, calling it "very well run," and expressed disappointment at low public turnout while recommending further discussion about incorporating additional natural lighting into the facility design. The board’s remarks were recorded in the meeting minutes; no formal policy changes were taken during the meeting.
